Diversity

Diversity LogoThe Marching Roundtable is forming a Diversity Committee, a group of motivated volunteers who will discuss this issue in the marching arts and work to find solutions and share them.

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee actively promotes diversity and expression among performers, instructors, and leadership within the pageantry arts. The committee will seek to look at and address ways to create a climate where conversation, debate, and problem solving are the cornerstone to creating a future in the marching arts, where representation of all cultures have an equal voice.

This committee grew out of a conversation in Podcasts 534 and 535.  Hear a podcast about this new committee on August 4.

Your interest in applying to be a part of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee is greatly appreciated and welcomed, as community members like you are what sustain our continual growth. Issues related to inclusivity within the pageantry community are difficult to address and in an effort to address them, it is important to take the most important step, which is to get more members of our community involved in the conversation. We need more knowledge, skills, and awareness to be a more diverse community. As a group of leaders, this committee will serve to bring positive change within our activity by assessing the problems we face as they relate to diversity and inclusion, while working to develop effective initiatives to improve the pageantry culture to greater heights.

Complete the application below if you are interested in being a part of this committee and this discussion.  All information shared on this application will be kept confidential and not shared without your permission, and only then with other committee members.  We will create a committee from all those who apply.  Those not chosen will be asked to be a part of “Diversity Teams” which will work on issues specific to their group and assist with the overall mission of this endeavor.
